Point guard Deron Williams won't be playing in the Brooklyn Nets preseason opener on Tuesday due to pain in his ankle.
Williams sprained his ankle a month ago, and says the pain is still lingering.
Rod Boone of Newsday took to his Twitter to report,
Deron said he's still taking it slow. Said he's likely not playing in preseason opener vs. #Wizards on Tuesday.Boone suggested Williams could also miss the team's second preseason game.

Because the regular season hasn't started, there's no rush to get Williams back on the court- It's better for the team to preserve his ankles for when it counts.
With Williams' absence this preseason, we can expect to see more of Shaun Livingston.
