Suns' Alex Len cleared to practice

After the Phoenix Suns selected former Maryland center Alex Len as their first pick in the NBA Draft this summer, there have been questions swirling surrounding his availability for the start of the regular season. These questions were caused by Len's recovery from surgeries on both of his ankles. While it wasn't certain if he'd be back in time for the start of the new campaign, Len recently tweeted that he's been cleared to return to practice.

Now that it appears Len has been cleared and will be on the court to start the Suns' regular season, the questions can shift from his health to his abilities as a professional basketball player. Despite limited results in college, Len was a highly-regarded prospect, as evidenced by Phoenix selecting him at No. 5 overall.

Len's size (7'1") and offensive and defensive ability in the post are what attracted teams. He obviously has to get stronger, which is something that an NBA workout regiment should accomplish. He struggled with consistency in college, but it's unclear if that had more to do with him or the system being run in Maryland.
