Since signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this offseason, Andrew Bynum has been working out at the team’s facilities “nearly every day,” according to Mary Schmitt Boyer of The Plain Dealer. In responding to readers, Schmitt Boyer said that Bynum has been working hard to return to his previous form this summer.
Bynum has been working out here nearly every day since he signed. I seriously doubt he planned to sit out last season since he was a free agent this summer and cost himself a lot of money by being unable to play last season. I think it was an unfortunate set of circumstances that kept him off the court. I also think that is the reason he has been working so hard to try and regain his form.
Schmitt Boyer also notes that she doesn’t believe Bynum planned on sitting out through the entire 2012-13 season, which he spent with the Philadelphia 76ers. As evidenced this offseason, last year cost the big man money, and he instead had to settle on a contract that will allow him to rebuild his value.
Bynum is working hard to do just that, as he’s still young enough that he’ll be in line for a max contract. That is assuming his knees cooperate, of course.
