Spurs’ Tony Parker injures knee during exhibition play

San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker has reportedly injured his right knee for the second time in exhibition play leading up to next month’s EuroBasket tournament, according to L’Equipe, a French sports outlet. Dan McCarney of Spurs Nation passed on word of the report, adding that Parker’s injury does not appear to be serious.

Parker apparently sustained his injury during France’s 85-84 loss to Spain. During the contest, Parker scored 29 points – of which 26 came in the second half. Parker didn’t address the injury immediately after the game, and it didn’t cause him to exit the contest early. As a result of the ailment, Parker is reportedly slated to undergo an MRI to help determine the extent of the damage.

The tournament will be held from Sept. 4 through the 22 in Slovenia. Spurs training camp begins Oct. 1, so depending on the severity of the injury, Parker could remove himself from EuroBasket in order to focus on the upcoming season.
