Suns ‘optimistic’ Channing Frye will return from heart condition

The Phoenix Suns were without forward Channing Frye for all of last season due to an enlarged heart condition. While there are still questions surrounding his durability and status for the 2013-14 season, the Suns are optimistic that Frye will be playing for them next year, reports Paul Coro of AZ Central.
“We’re optimistic that he’ll be with us and playing,” McDonough said of Frye. “Channing wants to play and the results he has gotten have been good. Obviously, we just want a consensus.”
So far, Frye’s made progress to the point where it appears he’ll be suiting up for the team next season. Phoenix is confident that the big man will eventually be cleared to play after seeking out the opinions of some of the top cardiologists.

Beyond Frye, the Suns are hoping that top pick in this year’s NBA Draft Alex Len will return for the start of the season. Len – who’s recovering from ankle injuries – remains on target to participate in training camp.
