The Detroit Pistons enter the offseason with money to spend and a solid young core in big men Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe. Detroit is seeking to add to this foundation, as the team has already been tied to free agents Josh Smith and Andre Iguodala. Beyond free agents, the Pistons are also looking into trades involving Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo and Toronto Raptors forward Rudy Gay, according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports.
The Celtics are clearly rebuilding. The team has already parted ways with veterans Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, and coach Doc Rivers left for Los Angeles. There is thought that Boston could look to build around Rondo, or he could be viewed as another piece to help jumpstart the team’s rebuilding effort.
The Pistons could look to trade for one superstar and sign another this offseason, or vice versa. Whatever the case, Detroit has money, bad contracts and coveted young players to shop, so it could be an interesting offseason for the team.
