NBA rumors: Heat, Rockets, Bulls finalists for Marcus Camby

As expected, veteran big man Marcus Camby cleared waivers last night, making him an unrestricted free agent. It initially appeared that the Houston Rockets were the favorite to land the center, but Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports reports that the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat are also finalist in the Camby sweepstakes.
Camby was traded from the New York Knicks to the Toronto Raptors earlier this offseason in the deal that sent Andrea Bargnani to the Big Apple. After the trade was completed, Camby accepted a buyout deal from the Raptors in effort to join a contender for the 2013-14 season.

While he’s far past his prime, Camby could be a different maker off the bench come playoff time if he’s able to remain healthy. That could prove to be a big ‘if,’ but at least three contenders appear to believe he’s worth the gamble.
