Former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden is nearing a decision on where he will sign. To aid in the decision process, Oden is set to work out for three teams as he tries to take the next step in his NBA comeback. The Miami Heat, New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings will all send representatives to watch Oden work out in person this week, according to ESPN.
Oden sat down with teams last week, speeding up his signing process. Clubs now hope to get a first-hand look at the big man, who was limited to just 82 career games after begin selected first overall by the Portland Trailblazers in the 2007 NBA Draft. He last appeared in a game in December of 2009, as he’s been hampered by several knee problems. He most recently underwent microfracture surgery on his knee in February of 2012.
Beyond the Heat, Pelicans and Kings, sources tell ESPN that the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks also remain in contention for Oden. The Cleveland Cavaliers were also in the mix before they signed center Andrew Bynum.
