The Charlotte Bobcats are looking to make a splash this summer and are open to trading their first-round pick – No. 4 overall – in a package for a high-profile player, according to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe. Washburn notes that one target could become Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh.
There are rumors that the Heat will be looking to trade Bosh this offseason. Washburn indicates that the Bobcats are well under the salary cap and could accept the near-max deal Bosh is sporting, making them a prime trade candidate with Miami.
Charlotte is clearly still a rebuilding team. While they’d like to do so through the draft, team officials understand they have to start winning and need a place to be the face of the franchise. According to Washburn, Bosh could be that player.
Bosh is 29 years old and his contract is for $62 million over the next three seasons. He can choose to opt of his deal after the 2014 or 2015 seasons.
