Warriors’ Harrison Barnes suffers scary fall

Golden State Warriors guard Harrison Barnes suffered a scary fall during last night’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Barnes hit the floor hard during the second quarter of the contest, requiring him to exit the game and receive stitched, according to Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated.

Barnes’ suffered the injury late in the second quarter when he was defending a drive from Spurs forward Boris Diaw. Barnes went up in the air and came down hard on his right arm and shoulder, as well as the right side of his head.

After the impact, Barnes laid motionless for some time. He eventually left the game under his own power, but he required six stitches for a cut over his right eye. While it was a scary event, coach Mark Jackson told reporters that Barnes remained conscious throughout.
“He was alert when he was on the floor,” Jackson said. “He walked off on his own. We have a great staff with our doctors and our trainers and he gave it a go. He actually played well, but it ran its course.”
Barnes passed a concussion test and resumed the game in the second half. The Spurs went on to defeat the Warriors, eliminating them from the playoffs.
