Police investigating Suns' Michael Beasley for alleged sexual assault

The Scottsdale Police Department are investigating an allegation of sexual assault against Phoenix Suns forward Michael Beasley, according to Alex Ferri of ABC 15 Phoenix.

Scottsdale police spokesman David Pubins told reporters that the investigation is ongoing, as they are in the process of conducting interviews and examining physical evidence.

“At this point we can only say the investigation is ongoing,” said David Pubins, Scottsdale police spokesman. “We are interviewing those involved and processing any physical evidence we may have to try and determine if criminal charges are appropriate.”

The incident reportedly took place on January 13, as a woman alleges that she was sexually assaulted by Beasley at his Paradise Valley home. The have yet to be any charges filed against the Suns' forward.

Beasley entered the NBA with high expectations as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 draft. He's yet to develop into the type of scorer many expected. He averaged a career-low 10.1 points per game last season, and he has two years remaining on his three-year, $18 million contract.
