The New Orleans Pelicans announced yesterday that point guard Greivis Vasquez recently underwent successful surgery on his right ankle, according to NOLA.com.
Vasquez underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his right ankle to remove bone spurs. The operation was performed by Dr. Richard Ferkel in Los Angeles, California. The Pelicans expect for Vasquez to resume basketball-related activities later this summer, as he’s beginning his rehab immediately.
Vasquez had a breakout season for the Pelicans in 2012-13 after struggling over his first two years in the NBA. The third-year pro totaled the most assists in the league and finished third in the NBA in assists per game with 9.0. These impressive figures resulted in his second-place finish in Most Improved Player voting. He played in 78 games this season, starting all of them.
