Pacers’ David West expected to play in Game 1

Indiana Pacers forward David West sat out yesterday’s practice due to an injury to his right leg. Still, the big man is expected to suit up for Wednesday’s Game 1 matchup against the Miami Heat, according to the Associated Press.

West was held out of Monday’s practice session by doctors due to what the team has termed a calf and lower leg strain. He did participate in shootaround with his teammates following the practice, but team doctors thought it would be good to give the forward the majority of the day off.

West has played a key role for a Pacers team that is preparing to take on the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. During the regular season, he averaged 17.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, and he’s posted totals of 15.5 and 6.8 during the playoffs.
