David West has been a key reason why the Indiana Pacers have been able to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. Still, beyond this season, West's future with the Pacers remains unclear. He has said that he'd like to re-sign with Indiana over the summer, but there are rumors that the Los Angeles Clippers -- and specifically Chris Paul -- are going to make a hard run at the big man, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
The Pacers will have the ability to pay West more to remain with the team, as Stein points out that the Clippers would likely have to structure an offer using the $5.15 million mid-level exception they have.
However, Los Angeles will also present West the opportunity to play alongside Paul, as the two were formerly teammates with the New Orleans Hornets. If Paul re-ups with the Clippers, the team will likely be on the hunt for another piece or two in order to make a serious run at a championship next season.
