Knicks rumors: Carmelo Anthony wants another scorer

New York Knicks small forward Carmelo Anthony is currently rehabbing a small tear in his shoulder. This ailment hasn't kept him from pondering his team's offseason plans, as he recently told a confidant that he would like the Knicks to add a bona fide secondary scorer, according to Marc Berman of The New York Post.

According to a source, Anthony has told a confidant he is concerned management will stand pat this offseason and said he believes the team needs to add a bona fide secondary scorer for the Knicks to take the next step and win a championship.
Anthony "loves" combo guard Iman Shumpert, and he believes the 22-year-old will develop into a superstar. However, he doesn't expect this to happen until two more seasons, and in the meantime he'd like the Knicks to add a significant piece to the roster.

New York has said that it intends to be creative and aggressive this offseason, but general manager Glen Grunwald also indicated that the team's major core would return. This season, the Knicks' secondary scoring options included J.R. Smith and Raymond Felton.
