Knicks’ J.R. Smith, Kenyon Martin out again with illness

For the second day in a row the New York Knicks were without guard J.R. Smith and forward Kenyon Martin, as both players continued to battle illness. Considering the lingering illnesses both players are facing, coach Mike Woodson told reporters – including Ian Begley of ESPN – that Smith and Martin will be game-time decisions for tonight’s Game 4 matchup against the Indiana Pacers.

Smith’s illness became evident prior to Game 3, as the sharpshooter was absent from warm-ups. It was later reported that Smith remained at the club’s hotel with a 102-degree fever while his teammates conducted shootaround.

Martin came down with the illness at some point after, as he was held out of practice Sunday. Woodson said that he’s hoping to keep Smith and Martin away from the team in order to prevent the continued spread of the illness. He added that Martin is dealing with the same virus that Smith is.
