An illness kept New York Knicks shooting guard J.R. Smith out of team warmups before Game 3 Saturday, and it also caused him to miss yesterday's practice session. According to Jared Wade of ESPN New York, both Smith and forward Kenyon Martin missed practice Sunday due to illness.
There were questions surrounding Smith's availability for Game 3 after he missed shootaround due to illness. It was later reported that while his teammates were partaking in warmups, Smith remained at the team hotel with a 102-degree fever.
The fever subsided, and Smith suited up for the Knicks, but he was once again ineffective. While he continues to be hampered by the illness, he said that he will play in Game 4 no matter what.
Martin has also come down with the sickness, as coach Mike Woodson told reporters that the team is trying to be careful that it doesn't spread any further.
"Kenyon's kind of coming down with [illness], too," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said, "so we've got to be careful that this thing doesn't spread, and other guys start dropping."
