Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire expected to dress for Game 3

New York Knicks power forward Amar’e Stoudemire will take the next few off days to continue to work his way back into playing shape. Stoudemire – who’s recovering from knee surgery – hasn’t faced any setbacks, and coach Mike Woodson told reporters – including Tony Williams of The Star-Ledger – that he expects to have the big man dressed for Game 3.

"He didn't have any setbacks after going 3-on-3 on Monday. We'll weigh it out again on Thursday and see where he is," said Woodson said. "And then by Friday we'll try and get him in a 5-on-5 setting and finally see where he is. If he doesn't have any setbacks by then, we'll probably dress him on Saturday."
Stoudemire told reporters earlier in the week that his largest concern at this point is his cardio. While he’s not experiencing pain in his knee, he still doesn’t feel he’s where he needs to be with his cardio.

To help improve in this area, Stoudemire will continue to take part in 3-on-3 scrimmages today, and he’ll move on to 5-on-5 matchups tomorrow. If all continues to go well and he doesn’t show signs of setback, Stoudemire will dress for Game 3.

While he’s expected to suit up for the game, it’s to be determined how much playing time he’ll receive. Even if he’s available, ESPN New York reports that Stoudemire won’t log “big minutes” during Game 3.
