Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire expected back for Round 2

New York Knicks coach Mike Woodson recently told reporters that forward Amare Stoudemire would definitely play in the second round of the postseason if he’s able to get healthy. Stoudemire appears set to get back on the court, as a source close to the big man told Ian Begley and Jared Zwerling of ESPN New York that they believe he will return to action in the second round.

Stoudemire continues recovering from knee surgery he underwent in March. The procedure removed debridement from his ailing right knee.

Yesterday, Stoudemire went through a few drills with teammates. After regular practice was over, he worked on his post-up game with assistant coach LaSalle Thompson. Stoudemire was reportedly moving aggressively and at a somewhat quick pace. He finished up by running for a while after shooting free throws.

Stoudemire still isn’t quite there as far as his conditioning goes, and he’ll have to see time in 5-on-5 scrimmages before he’s cleared to return for the Knicks. Still, it’s starting to look more and more likely as though he’ll be available for Round 2.
