Dwyane Wade participates in full-contact practice

If there was any doubt that Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade would suit up for Game 1 of the team’s second-round NBA Playoff series against the Chicago Bulls, it was quelled yesterday when the All-Star participated in a full-contact practice session. It was his third consecutive day of practice, and Wade is expected to play tonight against Chicago, according to Vaugh McClure of The Chicago Tribune.

While the Heat haven’t committed to Wade’s availability in Game 1, it’s been expected all along that he would return after the team’s extended break. He basically admitted as much yesterday when asked about his pending status.

When pressed on whether there had been doubt about his status for Game 1, Wade responded, “I felt like I was always building (toward playing). Obviously, a couple of extra days don’t hurt. Brooklyn took (the Bulls series) back home, so (this) series started a little later.’’

Wade sat out Game 4 of the Heat’s opening round series against the Milwaukee Bucks, but if the contest had more meaning he likely would have suited up. Considering the Bulls/Nets series went seven games, Wade has had a significant amount of time to rest him ailing knee.

After missing several practices earlier in the week, Wade returned Friday. He also practiced Saturday, and he participated in a full-contact session yesterday.
