Early on in the Chicago Bulls' second-round series against the Miami Heat, there were reports that point guard Derrick Rose would dress for Game 3. This never happened, and Sam Aggrey of CSN Chicago reports that coach Tom Thibodeau is aware that Rose will not return during the team's series against the Heat. However, Aggrey adds that Rose "strongly" considered returning to the court prior to the second round of the playoffs.
This news of Rose's continued absence is mostly expected, but considering the amount of speculation surrounding Rose fans figure to continue holding out hope that he'll don his jersey instead of a suit and play. Considering the Bulls are not expected to make it past the Heat, it would appear that Rose's season is officially over.
For his part, Rose continued to leave the door open on a potential return. Thibodeau did the same, as he was unwilling to issue a definitive statement regarding the All-Star. However, Aggrey says that the coach is now aware he'll be without Rose for the remainder of the series.
Still, before the second round begin, Aggrey reports that Rose strongly considered making a comeback for the Bulls. He ultimately decided against it, electing to remain sidelined as he continues to return from significant knee surgery. This could have to do with the physicality of the series, but whatever the case it looks like the door can be shut on seeing Rose in anything but a suit for the remainder of the series, and likely the Bulls' season.
