Clippers rumors: Chris Paul undecided on future

The season has ended for the Los Angeles Clippers, but they have an important summer ahead of them, specifically when it comes to the future of All-Star point guard Chris Paul. A pending free agent, Paul has given no indication on whether or not he’s returning to the Clippers next season, as he told reporters – including Arash Markazi of ESPN Los Angeles – that it’s going to take him some time to do so.

"All season long, it's something that I said I would address after the season and I really didn't think about it all during the season," Paul said. "The season's not even 24 hours from being over, so I really haven't thought about it. The craziest thing is that this season is over. I still haven't got that wrapped around my brain."

Paul had an opportunity to sign a three-year, $60 million contract extension with the Clippers last year, but he refused to do so. Now he’ll have a chance to sign a five-year deal worth $108 million as an unrestricted free agent.

The Clippers have built something in Los Angeles, and that has a lot to do with Paul. While the All-Star has talent surrounding him – none bigger than Blake Griffin – he said that the opportunity to win a championship and play well into June will be a big factor in where he signs this offseason.
