Bulls’ Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich doubtful for Game 3

The Chicago Bulls’ series against the Miami Heat switches venues tonight, but the status of several key injured players remains the same. As tonight’s Game 3 approaches, Bulls forward Luol Deng and guard Kirk Hinrich remain doubtful to suit up against the Heat, according to Nick Friedell of ESPN Chicago.

Hinrich underwent a second MRI on his injured left calf yesterday. The results have not been announced, but he continues to be listed as doubtful to play.

Deng continues to be very weak as he recovers from the side effects of his recent case of the flu and corresponding spinal tap. The forward has lost roughly 15 pounds since undergoing the procedure, and he told reporters he’s frustrated that he’s not sure when he’ll be able to return.

"It's hard, man," Deng said of having to sit out. "We've had a long season. I've played with a lot of injuries. I've went through the wrist (injury) with torn ligaments. I had a fractured thumb, I played with it. I just went through all that to be able to play. I just didn't think something beside an injury would keep me out, and that's what makes it really hard. I don't know what you can do."

Deng added that it was basically his first day out of the hospital or house, as he really hasn’t left his bed much over the past couple of days. He struggled when he attempted to shoot recently , and considering the significant weight loss he’s unlikely to play against the Heat.

In place of Hinrich and Deng, the Bulls will continue to rely on Nate Robinson and Jimmy Butler.
