Bulls’ Luol Deng doubtful for Game 3

Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters – including K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune – that forward Luol Deng was able to do some shooting earlier in the week. Still, Johnson notes that Deng will continue to be listed as doubtful as Game 3 against the Miami Heat approaches.

Along with his light shooting, Deng was also “walking around” on Wednesday, according to Thibodeau.

"I don't want to speculate on that," Thibodeau said. "He did a little bit of shooting (Tuesday). He's still not feeling great. (Wednesday), he was just more like walking around. We'll see where he is (Thursday)."

Considering he’s only able to walk around at this point, it doesn’t seem likely that Deng will be able to return in time for Friday’s Game 3. The Bulls had a plane chartered and ready to take Deng to Miami for the first two games of the series, but he was in and out of the hospital and remained in Chicago.

Deng continues to recover from issues stemming from his recent spinal tap. He’s yet to show any real signs of improvement, but Thibodeau isn’t ready to say that he’ll be out for the remainder of the series yet. Small forward Jimmy Butler has stepped up in place of Deng.
