The Chicago Bulls have already ruled forward Luol Deng out for tonight's series opener against the Miami Heat, and guard Kirk Hinrich is questionable to suit up for Game 1, according to K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune.
Hinrich sustained the injury during the Bulls' Game 4 triple-overtime win over the Brooklyn Nets while taking a charge from point guard Deron Williams. He hasn't returned since, as the ailment required a walking boot for some time, and Hinrich continues to favor his injured leg.
Hinrich has been doing everything he can to return from his calf injury. He told reporters as much, as he's been trying to use every sort of treatment method possible to return to the court.
"Time will tell," Hinrich said late Saturday about his chances to play in Game 1. "I've been doing everything I can, but it isn't ready yet."
Nate Robinson has been starting in place of Hinrich during his absence. The Bulls are clearly not at full strength without Hinrich, as he provides ball-handling ability and a solid presence on the defensive end of the court. Chicago's already at a deficit against the Heat, but it could get ugly without Deng and Hinrich.
