Wizards rumors: Washington plans on re-signing Martell Webster

Re-signing small forward Martell Webster – who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer – will be one of the Washington Wizards’ priorities, according to Michael Lee of The Washington Post.

Webster registered his best season as a pro at just the right time. The 26-year-old averaged 11.4 points per game while shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 42.2 percent from three-point range. All of these figures are career highs, and he figures to receive a nice contract as a result of his performance.

Considering their existing contracts, there figures to be little difference between the Wizards’ roster you see this season and the one you’ll see next season. This could change if they are able to trade Emeka Okafor, Nene or Trevor Ariza. They are also expected to re-sign former top pick John Wall to a lucrative long-term contract.
