Timberwolves’ Kevin Love to undergo knee surgery

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love was already set to miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury. Now, the team has announced that the All-Star will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on the injured knee to remove a buildup of scar tissue.

Minnesota’s President of Basketball Operations David Kahn told reporters that the operation is expected to take place Wednesday in New York City, and Love is expected back no later than early June to resume workouts. The timetable for this sort of procedure is generally 4-6 weeks, according to the team.

Kahn continued on to say that the Timberwolves are extremely disappointed regarding the situation, while Love “feels very badly about it.”

“I think disappointment will suffice for now, I can’t think of a better word,” Kahn said. “But as he put it, I’ll put it in more reader friendly words, it’s been one heck of a season. He feels very badly about it, which is understandable.”

Injuries to Love, Ricky Rubio and Nikola Pekovic have decimated the Timberwolves hopes of competing this season. For their sake, hopefully things will be different next year.
