Spurs’ Tiago Splitter out 7-10 days

San Antonio Spurs center Tiago Splitter sprained his left ankle during last night’s Game 3 contest against the Los Angeles Lakers, an injury that will cause the big man to be out seven to 10 days, according to The San Antonio Express-News.

Following the game, coach Gregg Popovich told reporters that X-rays on Splitter’s ankle were negative. However, the center is going to miss at least Game 4 on Sunday and could be required to be sidelined for additional contests, depending on how the ankle responds.

Splitter sustained the injury in the second half of last night’s victory over the Lakers. If the Spurs are able to complete a sweep of Los Angeles and the series between the Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets stretches out, Splitter may only have to miss one game due to the injury.

During the regular season, Splitter averaged 10.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. It was his first year as a regular for the Spurs.
