Pacers’ George Hill aggravates hip injury

Indiana Pacers point guard George Hill has been playing through a nagging hip injury since March, but he told reporters – including Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star – that he’s trying to block out the pain as his team prepares for Game 2 against the Atlanta Hawks.

“If you think about it, your mind starts playing tricks on you,” Hill said after Sunday’s 107-90 Game 1 win over Atlanta. “So when I go out there, I just try and think I’m at 100 percent. I try and block it all out.”

Hill initially sustained the injury during a March 23 loss to the Chicago Bulls. The ailment caused him to miss the next game, but he returned for the team’s stretch run to play through the pain. He’s missed just one game since then.

There was a scary moment in the first quarter of the playoff opener when Hill appeared to reinjure his hip during a collision, but he simply got off the floor and continued playing. He finished Game 1 with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
