Nuggets' Kenneth Faried unlikely to play in Game 1

Earlier this week, Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried was hopeful that he’d be able to play in today’s playoff opener against the Golden State Warriors. However, team executive Masai Ujiri told Denver radio show “Evans& Klatt” that Faried is doubtful to play in Game 1.

Faried will ultimately be a game-time decision for today’s contest against the Warriors, but it sounds like he’s more realistic to make it back from his ankle injury in time to play in Game 2. Faried sustained his ankle sprain at the end of the regular season and has been out since.

The Nuggets and Faried initially thought the injury was worse than it was, as he told reporters that he was concerned he broke something. However, X-rays came back negative, and the forward has been undergoing treatment for three to four hours per day since.

While Faried is feeling better and now able to walk without the help of a boot, it’s still to be determined if he’ll be on the court today. He said earlier in the week that if he was cleared he’d play; we’ll have to wait and see.
