Nuggets F Kenneth Faried hopeful to play in Game 1

Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried sustained a sprained left ankle late in the regular season. The results were good, and Faried is expected to return for the playoffs. However, it’s still to be determined if he’ll be back in time for the Nuggets’ postseason opener against the Golden State Warriors.

The team announced yesterday that Faried is hopeful he will be able to play Saturday in the first game of the playoffs. While he’s “not making any promises,” he did say that “if I’m cleared, then I’m playing.”

The Nuggets and fans initially thought the worst when Faried had to exit on crutches after sustaining his ankle sprain. He’s now walking without a boot, and he acknowledged that the ankle is getting better each day.

Faried suffered the injury when he stepped on the ankle of Portland Trail Blazers rookie Will Barton while driving to the basket Sunday. If he’s unable to make it back for Game 1, the Nuggets have two days of rest before Game 2 and then another off day prior to Game 3, so he expects to be back at some point early in the first round.

  1. First Thanks For Your Service Thats to all who had anything to do with bringing to justice the bombmers of Boston. I would hope the George will hold Kenneth out until the second round unless the team shows that they can't play without him .Golden State is not a team that is going to slow the game. They want to run and gun . The nuggets have players that can step up and fill in . The next round may be more phisical and we will need Kenneth to be closer to 100% Play him in the 4th or 5th game to get back a little but lets play without him in the fast pace games with GS.

    1. Sounds like he won't be available until at least Game 2, so depending on how they do in the opener they could certainly heed your advice!
