Lakers' Steve Blake injures hamstring

Los Angeles Lakers' guard Steve Blake has stepped up in a big way in the absence of Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant. Unfortunately for the Lakers, the injury bug has bit again, as Blake suffered a hamstring injury during last night's Game 2 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

Blake told reporters -- including Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles -- that he's not surprised that he's joining the ranks of the Lakers' ailing players. How could he be?

"You almost can't even be surprised anymore," Blake said of the Lakers' extensive injury list this season. "It's been that kind of year. I'm just kind of emotional about it right now. I hoping it's nothing serious."

Blake will undergo testing today to determine the extent of the injury. At this point, he's hopeful to suit up for Game 3. He said he sustained the injury while driving to his right side. When he attempted to beat his man off the dribble, he experienced a sharp pain in his hamstring.

Lakers guards are taking hits, as Bryant's done for the year and Nash and Jodie Meeks are also hampered by injuries.
