Lakers Metta World Peace returns from knee injury

It was reported yesterday that Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace was set to return to action Tuesday night against the New Orleans Hornets. This was considered a relative surprise, as World Peace’s initial diagnosis had him missing much more time than the 18 days he’d been sidelined, but the forward fulfilled the reports and suited up for the Lakers last night.

World Peace saw 15 minutes of action last night during the Lakers’ 104-96 win over the Hornets. He attempted three field goals – making one – and went 1-for-2 at the free throw line. World Peace also collected an assist and finished the game with four points.

Recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus, it was initially expected that World Peace would require six weeks of recovery time. However, he’s been able to make it back to Los Angeles in less than three weeks. It’s certainly a boost for a Lakers team that is vying for a spot in the playoffs.
