Lakers’ Jodie Meeks expects to play in Game 2

Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant aren’t the only injured players on the Los Angeles Lakers. Guard Jodie Meeks missed practice on Monday and Tuesday due to a sprained ankle, but he told coach Mike D’Antoni that he will be ready and available for today’s Game 2 matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, according to Shahan Ahmed of NBS Los Angeles.

Meeks has helped pick up the additional minutes made available by Bryant’s season-ending Achilles injury. It would have put even more of a burden on D’Antoni and Los Angeles’ bench if Meeks wasn’t able to suit up for today’s contest.

Beyond Meeks, point guard Steve Nash also expects to play tonight. The veteran – who’s been battling hamstring and hip injuries – told reporters yesterday that he expects to return to the starting lineup for the Lakers.
