The procedure is the result of an injury sustained on March 22 during a los to one of Jamison’s former teams – the Washington Wizards. An MRI later revealed ligament damage to Jamison’s wrist, but the veteran continued playing through the discomfort during the Lakers’ playoff run.
Jamison was one of the lesser-known injuries on a Lakers’ team that was ravaged by ailments all season. Early on it was Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, while Kobe Bryant’s season-ending Achilles injury wound up being the story of the end of the year. Los Angeles also lost Steve Blake, Jodie Meeks and Metta World Peace for stretches of the season.
Signing a veteran-minimum contract with the Lakers prior to this season, Jamison is not expected to return with Los Angeles next year. He averaged 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game over 76 appearances for the Lakers.
