Kyrie Irving scores 31 in his return

The Cavaliers said he'd be back if he could come back.  Coach Byron Scott had indicated that the club had no intentions of holding their young point guard out of action if he was medically cleared to play.  Well, he was medically cleared to play and available yesterday.  So he played.

Irving, in his return from a shoulder injury that could have cost him the season, scored 31 points and dished out six assists.  However, the Cavaliers could not overcome the New Orleans Hornets.  The Cavs fell 112-92.  But Irving looked good, and he gives the fans a reason to watch Cleveland games for the time being.

Irving has been sensational in his career, but this, his second year in the NBA, has been a truly breakout season.  Irving is averaging 23.2 points and 5.7 assists per game.  In his career, Irving has averaged 20.8 points and 5.5 assists per game.

Irving made his first All-Star team this season, and he has proven to be the central figure in the Cavaliers' rebuilding process.  Irving has battled through numerous injuries this season including a fractured jaw and a fractured finger.
