LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are getting some much-deserved rest. The two superstars helped the Miami Heat to an incredible 27-game winning streak. With them on the bench, the team is just not the same - as proven last night.
Carmelo Anthony dropped 50 for the Knicks and New York beat Miami 102-90 last night. The performance was impressive, but it also served to show just how different a team the Heat are without James and Wade. This is the second-straight game in which the two stars sat, but in the first game, Miami pulled off the win.
Anthony's performance helped push the Knicks to 47-26 on the season. They are still 10 1/2 games behind the first-place Heat, and they are tied with the Indiana Pacers for second-place in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks have already assured themselves of a playoff spot, but they will have to push themselves to hold on to the two seed.
James and Wade are reported to be suffering from minor injuries, but it's pretty clear the team is just giving the players some days off. James is alleged to have a mild hamstring strain, and Wade (who really did nurse and injury and missed some time during The Streak) has a right ankle sprain. Nothing to be concerned about, Heat fans. These two will be back on the court soon.
