Hornets’ Anthony Davis out for season with MCL sprain

New Orleans Hornets center Anthony Davis injured his left knee late in Wednesday’s contest against the Sacramento Kings. While the injury – a sprained MCL and bone bruise on his knee – isn’t extremely severe, it will sideline Davis for the remainder of the season, the Hornets have announced.

Davis sustained the injury when he stood his ground under the basket to draw an offensive foul during the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s contest. After colliding with Marcus Thornton, the guard fell hard on Davis’ knee. He struggled to put pressure on the left leg and had to be helped off the court.

No timeframe has been released for the big man’s expected return as of yet, but Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk believes Davis should be ready in time for Summer League, if the Hornets elect to send him there. This means he should also be good to go in time for next season, when he attempts to improve of this year’s totals; 13.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
