Hornets' Anthony Davis tweaks knee in loss

The New Orleans Hornets received a scare last night when center Anthony Davis went down with an apparent knee injury. While Davis had to be helped off the court, coach Monty Williams told reporters -- including John Reid of NOLA.com -- that he believes his big man is "OK."

"I think he's OK, but I don't want to jump the gun,'' Hornets Coach Monty Williams said.  "I didn't see the play yet, but he said Marcus landed on his knee. He said he's a little sore.''

When Davis exited the court, he could barely put pressure on his injured left leg. He sustained the injury when he stood his ground under the basket to draw an offensive foul. Following a collision, guard Marcus Thornton fell hard on Davis' knee.

Williams told reporters that he was happy the injury wasn't a "buckle or a ligament or anything like that. The coach is hoping that the ailment is nothing more than a contusion, but Davis will undergo an MRI today to determine the extent of the injury. He scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds prior to leaving the game.
