Hawks’ Josh Smith misses practice with sprained ankle

Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith missed Monday’s team practice due to a sprained right ankle, reports Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Smith received treatment on his ankle yesterday, and the Hawks are hopeful that he’ll be able to suit up for Game 2 against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. Smith suffered the injury late during Game 1, and Atlanta is considering him day to day.

The Hawks trail the Pacers 1-0, as Indiana took the opener 107-90. During the opening round matchup, Smith scored 15 points on 7-of-15 shooting – including 1-of-4 from three-point range – with eight rebounds and five assists.

Considering the importance of Smith, it would seem to be a good bet that he’ll be ready to go for Wednesday. The ankle could impact him, but it’s doubtful that he misses Game 2, considering Atlanta has already dropped the opener.
