Celtics will rest Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett against Heat

While both stars are traveling with the team, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett will not play for the Boston Celtics on Friday when they take on the Miami Heat due to sore left ankles, the team has announced.

This injury reasoning is a little suspect, and it appears to be more of a cover so that the NBA can’t take action against Boston for resting players at the end of the season. The playoffs are approaching, and teams certainly want to be as close to full strength as they can be for that pivotal stretch.

Meanwhile, Dwyane Wade has says he’s suiting up for the Heat, but the status of LeBron James and Chris Bosh isn’t known. So fans that paid top dollar for this matchup could be quite disappointed, as they could have to watch four marquee players man the bench.
