Bulls’ Kirk Hinrich doubtful for Game 5

Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich suffered a left calf injury during the team’s Game 4 playoff victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters – including K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune – that Hinrich is doubtful to play during tonight’s game 5 matchup with the Nets.

After playing more than 59 minutes during the Bulls three-overtime thriller against the Nets, Hinrich told reporters that his calf injury “is pretty bad.” He was walking with a noticeable limp after the game, and he underwent an MRI to gauge the extent of the damage. Johnson speculates that Hinrich may have sustained the injury when he crashed into the media tables while saving a ball from going out of bounds.

Apparently Hinrich was still limping and experiencing pain on Sunday, leading the Bulls to list him as doubtful for tonight’s Game 5. If he’s unable to suit up, the Bulls could start Nate Robinson in his place – though Johnson notes that matchup against Nets guard Deron Williams would favor Brooklyn.
