The Philadelphia 76ers parted ways with head coach Doug Collins following a disappointing season. Now, the Sixers are targeting some of the top assistants in the league to fill their coaching vacancy, as they're looking at Indiana Pacers' Brian Shaw and Mike Malone of the Golden State Warriors.
Ken Berger of CBS Sports was one of the first to report of the Sixers' interest in Shaw, who's currently coaching the Pacers into the playoffs. Previously, Shaw was an assistant with the Los Angeles Lakers under legendary coach Phil Jackson.
In the early stages of the Sixers' coaching search, two names have risen to the top of the list, sources say: Mike Brown and Brian Shaw.Dei Lynam of CSN Philly has reported that Philadelphia is also interested in Warriors assistant Mike Malone. He's considered another up-and-comer in the coaching ranks, and both he and Shaw figure to garner interest from several teams this offseason.
