Detroit Pistons forward Greg Monroe’s agent, David Falk, told
Vincent Goodwill of the Detroit News that his client won’t discuss a new
contract with the team before he becomes a restricted free agent in 2014.
Monroe is currently in his third year with the Pistons after
being taken as the 7th-overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft. So far
this season, he’s averaged 16.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
When it comes to his client’s next contract, Falk says it
will come down to more than money. He believes he will be able to get the same
dollar amount from several teams, so Monroe’s decision could ultimately depend
on factors including where he wants to play, who he wants to play with or who
he wants as his coach.
The young Pistons continue to show signs of improvement, and
Falk believes they’re going in the right direction. However, only time will tell
if Monroe will be with the team beyond 2014.
