The aging Boston Celtics aren't even pretending to be young anymore. Paul Pierce is playing with a pain in his neck, literally. At 35 years old, the aches and pains of the game have to catch up. In Pierce's case, they are catching up in the form of a pinched nerve.
According to Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald, Pierce suffered a pinched nerve in his neck and understands it is just something he is going to have to play through. Pierce believes the pain is something he will experience throughout the rest of the season, maybe longer.
The Celtics' two biggest stars are both in their late 30's. Kevin Garnett may retire at the end of the season, and Paul Pierce might simply fall apart. The team is hoping to make one last run, but it doesn't seem like they have the steam to do so.
Pierce is averaging 18.5 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game. In his career, he has averaged 21.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
