Kobe Bryant did not play against the Sacramento Kings. He had tried to come back and play on Friday, but he only made it through 12 minutes of action. So, Sunday he sat out. And the Lakers still won.
With Bryant nursing his severely sprained ankle, the Lakers managed to handle the Kings easily yesterday. They won 113-102. Bryant was ill on top of being injured, and that was likely the reason he didn't try to play yesterday.
Bryant, who is averaging 27.5 points per game this season, has been one of the most durable players in the league. He didn't even miss a game between the initial sprain and the Lakers' next game. Now, Bryant will have decide if he can go tonight against the Phoenix Suns.
The Lakers seem to have turned a corner and started winning games, but Bryant's injury may have put a damper on their push to the postseason. At 36-32, the Lakers hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the west by one game over the Utah Jazz.
