Lakers Injury News: Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash hurt

As the Lakers watch their lead on the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference shrink, the team is also faced with more injury issues.  I know, shocking, right?  Both Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash are hobbled right now by pain.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, Bryant is dealing with bone spurs in his foot and Nash is battling hip spasms.  The bone spurs have inflamed Bryant's foot and are causing pain, but he says he'll be fine.  Nash's injury may be more concerning.  He was close to being held out of last night's game, but he played.  However, he left the game in the third quarter.

Bryant and Nash are important parts to the Lakers holding on and making the playoffs.  However, the team has now lost four-straight games and holds just a half-game lead over the Utah Jazz.  Bryant has played through pain on and off this season, including a severe ankle sprain that actually caused him to miss some games.  Nash had a broken leg earlier in the season.

Bryant is averaging 27.2 points and 5.8 assists per game.  Nash is averaging 12.9 points and 6.8 assists per game.  When both of them are on, the Lakers are a good team.  When they are less than 100 percent, Los Angeles can easily be beat.
