I'm not sure why it took this long, but the Utah Jazz have waived Raja Bell. The veteran guard had not played at all this season because of a dispute arising out of Bell's role. While Utah was surely looking for a better way to handle things, waiving Bell was probably the only real option and could have happened much earlier in the season.
Bill Oram of the Salt Lake Tribune says the Jazz are expected to add D-League guard Travis Leslie to fill Bell's roster spot.
The Jazz will pay Bell's whole contract to create roster space. Have been expected to add D-League guard Travis Leslie since Friday.

It's unfortunate that some sort of comprise could not be worked out, but the Jazz are moving on. Bell will move on as well. He is veteran in the NBA and will find work elsewhere.
In his 12-year career, Bell has averaged 9.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. He has been with the Jazz since the 2010-11 season. In total, Bell has played for seven teams including the Jazz twice.
