It's all in his mind now. Doctors have cleared Derrick Rose to play in full game action, but the Chicago Bulls' superstar is not ready. He hasn't played since last late last season and wants to be sure he's ready mentally before taking the court again.
According to Melissa Isaacson of ESPN Chicago, Rose wants to be able to dunk off his left foot with confidence before he returns. Rose readily admits the situation is all mental at this point. He feels hesitant about his knee strength. However, the only way to overcome that is to play.
Rose tore his ACL during the postseason last year. He was one of the game's most dominant players and looked poised to lead the Bulls to an NBA Championship. However, without him the club just doesn't seem to have enough. They didn't last year, and they won't this year.
Rose has not given a timetable for when he thinks he will be ready, but most of those close to the situation think he will play again this year. Rose is a competitor and it's unlikely that he would be able to sit on the bench and watch his team without him in the postseason.
