Bulls’ Derrick Rose ‘not quite’ ready to return

Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose has been cleared to play by doctors, but coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters, including Andrew Seligman of The Associated Press, yesterday that the All-Star is “not quite” ready to return from his knee injury.

"We'll see when he's ready," Thibodeau said. "He's getting there. He's not quite there yet."

While he’s been cleared to play, Rose said he would not return until he can dunk with confidence off his left foot. Regarding a return date, a decision “hasn’t been finalized yet,” according to Thibodeau.

Thibodeau was asked by reporters if he’ll be allowed to play when he feels able to do so, and he responded that “we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.” The Bulls continue to monitor Rose and take the situation day-to-day. It’s still not a sure bet that the guard returns to action this season.
